THE ANCIENT PATH

CHAPTER FOUR
(Continued)
A week later as it was raining, Gabe wandered into the surgery, watching some bizarre movie on the TV there until he was called in.
It was the same doctor, but he looked a little serious. "Gabe, we would like to do more tests. Some of the blood results are causing us concern."
"What is it, doctor?" queried Gabe.
"Would you be willing to do some more tests?" hedged the doctor.
"Look, please let me know what you...?"
"Have you slipped or fallen lately without any real explanation? Had any vision problems? Depression?"
"No", answered Gabe, " no problems with vision or depression, but I have slipped a couple of times. Doesn't everybody?" He tried to sound light, almost joking.
"Have you any family near?" the doctor asked, not answering.
"No", answered Gabe, quite truthfully.
"We need to do more tests", said the doctor. "I don't want to alarm you, but you are showing signs of multiple sclerosis."
